It has been exactly one month since our last post. My last post. In that time, we have been reconnecting with family and friends. We’ve also gotten back into yardwork (damn leaves). But we’ve also spent a lot of time reflecting on being off the road. And more than anything, we have been enjoying our home.
We have been asked by not a few of you if we had thought about writing a book about our adventures. Short answer – no, we have not. It is not something we want to do. The memories contained on these virtual pages will continue on as our personal diary, likely to be reflected upon in the future. It will be fun, as I have never reread anything we posted after it went live.
For me, though, the writing journey is not over. I think it is just beginning. I hinted at this last time, but it has become clearer to me in the past 30 days. And I am ready to take action.
To that end, I wanted to let anyone interested know that my journey will begin, at least on the public front, on Substack. It is a social website geared toward creative ideas, lots of writers and artists and the like. Karen pointed it out to me and I think it is a fit as a start. I do not know when I will begin publishing on the site, only that I intend to in the coming month.
It will not be what you’ve read here. No travelog, no daily updates, no statuses. (Some of that MAY crop up from time to time, but quite infrequently I would imagine) I am not sure what stories I will start with or what direction they will take. What I do know is that I have some characters banging around in my head, wanting their story told. They tell me nothing, however, and will only spill their guts by writing. I guess we’ll all have to wait to see what they have to say.
All I can say is that it will be different than anything I have done. And fair warning – it may very well be crass, disturbing, confusing. I can’t forecast what will come out. The stories haven’t told themselves yet. But if you’re interested in following the journey, you can find my Substack at the link below. You can subscribe to it for free with just an email address.
