Chillin’

Our last full day here in Zion has been quite relaxing and wonderful. We had some great rest (again), and as I peered into Rick’s pupils this am, I declared him much improved. This, of course, is a very scientific measurement… but trust me, the changes have been dramatic!

We still decided to take it easy. There is no need for a relapse. It was a cool and crisp day, but warm enough to enjoy our coffee outside. We spent the day moving into the sun, then out of the sun, so that we balanced staying warm with not getting overheated. We just can’t get enough of these views, even from the comfort of the campground and its immediate surroundings.

This campground is tight with plenty of people, and lots of turnover. So we also have enjoyed the variety and seeing all of the different RVs, especially the midday check outs/ins. Unfortunately, not all campers are responsible campers… so we spent some time this am helping a 4-5 year old little girl who was clearly lost after riding her bike. But she was much calmer when we chatted and she got to have Daisy in tow, with a promise to pet her when we got back safely to her place. We made sure she got home to her parents, who were inside their camper and hadn’t even noticed that she was gone. It took everything in us to not say anything! Such is life in a campground, a little bit of everything. Don’t even get me started on the people who don’t leash or clean up after their dog… We will leave here with plenty of characters and stories. (and still recommend it to anyone travelling to this area!)

This afternoon, we took Daisy for a nice long walk to tire her out, and then headed out for our “date day” in Zion. We explored some of the shops, went back to the places I had been at in 2018 (memories!), and then had a reservation at the spot we both remember most fondly, the Bit & Spur. We had a seriously delicious dinner with more beautiful views, and even better company.

We came back quickly to enjoy our last evening in this special place. The winds were significant here the past couple of days, but the campfire ban was lifted last night. So we are enjoying the smells of a fresh campfire nearby, with no work and very little lingering scents. It’s quite intoxicating!

We really do appreciate the opportunity to go “out” sometimes and have so much nearby to take in, but I’m looking forward to what we expect to be quieter surroundings coming up on the calendar.

Our dinner spot. We had a reservation for right when they opened. This place has been open over 30 years, same owners and same wonderful food.
… with a view of the canyon!
We got to meet some wild chickens in one of the yards on the way back
Back at “home”, Rick got a pic of us on Daisy’s evening walk. It’s an action shot.
The blogger’s view at sunset… time to pack it up and enjoy the last few moments of today’s daylight!
