Feeling our age

That. Was. Exhausting.

While we loved the opportunity to see most of the Disney Orlando parks, it definitely took its toll on us physically. We needed and appreciated a good rest day on Saturday!

The needy bichon returned to us as planned on Friday evening. She even got a report card! I am grateful for the pickup/dropoff service right at the campground. It made things very easy, even though I was nervous the whole time. They called me once while we were at the parks, just to confirm drop off times, but I was convinced I was getting a catastrophic phone call! I haven’t ever sent Daisy to be boarded (aka with strangers, at a “facility”). So we were both a bit out of sorts. But it gave us the flexibility we needed for this adventure. And since she is fine, they did a great job.

I couldn’t wait to get her back and hold her for a bit. She’s a little smellier than normal, though. And then she drank so much water that she had me up multiple times overnight to take her out. Plus, I think she was punishing me for sending her away. Oh the joys of this little dog…. I love her!!

So the needy bichon really does take the blame for our exhaustion. We did a 3 day park hopper and packed it all in while she was at the “pet hotel”. If we had it to do over again, I would have sent her there on multiple days, fewer overnights. They offer really long days (8:30am – 9pm) where we could have fully enjoyed a park day. Yes I would have done one overnight for fireworks, but that’s it. It would have allowed us to have rest days between parks. Live and learn (hope that helps someone reading this).

And if you are reading this thinking that you would never stay at this campground, think again… Disney vacation club is making a huge investment over here with really lovely modern cabins. If you are coming to Disney as a family, it gives you the opportunity to have more space and a kitchen. The transportation options from here can’t be beat!!! In fact, leaving the full 9pm Epcot fireworks show the other night, we walked out, caught a bus back to our property and we were home by 10. That is impressive. So check it out if you are considering Disney in your future.

New cabins… we might try to take a tour just for fun

Anyhow, Saturday was all about rest for all of us. We ventured to Fort Wilderness Lodge for an outstanding lunch with Jerry. It was fun to revisit our amazing pontoon boat experience and catch up. He also shared more pics, below, including those from the Photo Pass account that he linked us to.

Then we just enjoyed getting out our needlepoint and being quiet. Quite the opposite from the days prior. And much needed.

Sunday is for more of the same, after we get our chores done. We are over halfway on our trip, so today’s first priorities are a good cleaning for Livvy and some laundry. We love our little home on wheels, but a week plus means it is long overdue for some cleanup time.

Enjoy your day!!

Pre-pontoon stroll around the Boardwalk. (Necessary for Rick and I after the Biergarten dinner, yum)
We had an incredible time on the pontoon boat for Luminous, the Symphony of Us fireworks with Jer and Victoria.
My fav pic ??. Thanks Victoria!!!
The Disney photographers helping us capture the moment
And if we were doing a Christmas card… (but we are not. Merry Christmas!!).
