Halfway home, practicing our skills at “winging it”

? On the road again ?

? East bound and down, loaded up and truckin’ ?

There are such good people in this world, especially in Dickinson ND.

The camp host was kind enough to give us a container with compressed air last night so we could fill our tire just as we were ready to leave this am. So much better than worrying about doing damage in the mile to the car place.

The auto place opened at 8am, so we were there around 7:30. Not only were they there early, but wanted to help us right away.

Thankfully our issue was only the valve stem. So it was fast and cheap!!! We were on the road by 8am. A+!!! (And Rick left good reviews for both already)

Several have asked if we had a spare, and/or why not. No, we do not. It didn’t come with Livvy. We could technically put one on the back, but we then would also have to store a jack. And both of those things are heavy, take up space and would limit our capacity for other things. We do have roadside assistance which would arrange for a tow if we needed it, but we are grateful that we didn’t need a tow.

Fresh, giddy and on the road, we were so excited to be on our way home!!! It is so unlike us to be “winging it”, and so we quickly set a goal and made a reservation for a location halfway home. I don’t know how people go day to day with no plan… it is completely foreign to us!!

We have one word for North Dakota – Windy!!! We were awakened overnight to a booming thunderstorm and then quickly got lots of wind on the road. Sadly, this continued well into Minnesota as well. It was brutal. Our gas mileage plummeted; it required both full attention and full strength. Each underpass created a jolt no matter what we did, as did any kind of passing activity (us or others). But we muscled through it, literally. It was better by Minneapolis.

We made it to our “halfway” destination by early evening. We are in the super lovely Stoney Creek RV resort in Osseo, WI. It is a definite solid review, especially to hang out for families. But also lovely for a retired, tired couple wanting a couple of hours outside, a good nights sleep and an early departure.

Not only are we halfway home from where we started the day, but also hoping we have timed it well for minimal pain through the Chicagoland area tomorrow.

Our goal is to blog tomorrow from our deck!!! Wish us luck ?, and light winds ?

Right after we got on the road… had we driven straight through, with time changes, we could be home at 4am. But we knew we needed it one night of rest
So so happy to be on the road! We had our backpacks ready for a day in the auto shop…
Largest sand crane. Somewhere in ND. Everyone wants to be known for something, I guess
Here relaxing for a hot minute. Dinner and then packing up for a boondocking night since rain is coming in overnight.
