Ah, Wisconsin. The land of our favorite food – cheese!!!
Our first stop in this fine state was at Market Square Cheese, just a few miles from our campground for the evening. We picked up some lovely delicacies for near-immediate consumption, plus some goodies for days to come. (Of course, we already have an extensive selection of cheese with us… but we couldn’t resist.). Our first sampling was delicious!
Oh, and this is quite the foodie day since we treated ourselves to a lunch out this afternoon to “fuel up” before we hit the Chicago traffic… the Love’s we stopped at for gas had a Naf Naf grill! If you have never had it, we highly recommend it. It has outstanding Mediterranean food, similar to Chipotle or Bibibop style. I was thinking fondly of my lunch outings with Ted and Meghan to the Rockside location, back in the BOC days. We really enjoyed it.
And Rick certainly needed it for the next leg of the drive! Chicagoland lived up to its reputation for gnarly traffic. Grateful that it was the weekend, that we were well fed, and that we weren’t in a hurry. We got to tour some lovely neighborhoods (sadly due to an accident/highway closure), and it reminded me how much I love the area (minus the traffic). I was thinking of Chelly and Jason, as I think we were close to your wedding location.
And our destination tonight is called Country Roads RV park. That song is a Mihalik family favorite so FamJam, I am thinking of you! We didn’t pick it for the name (I didn’t even know it until yesterday), but it fits the bill for close to the highway, safe and highly rated.
There are goofballs everywhere, though. We checked in and the staff in the office had us follow her in a golf cart to our site, as campgrounds often do. So we pull up and lo and behold, there are 2 pickup trucks parked in our spot. So she starts asking around and apparently these guys aren’t even here right now, but are guests of another camper. Thankfully, she found us an another spot away from them. I am sure there would have been some eye rolling on my part if we were moved nearby to them, especially because the adjacent sites were not as nice as the one that they parked in! But all is well and we are settled in away from them in a good space.
Not having Daisy and Peeta with us is honestly a blessing and a curse. I am grateful that they are being well cared for (ok, spoiled) and it does make our adventures simpler. We never would have just had lunch at Naf Naf when we had them, or leisurely strolled through the cheese shop. So it is nice from that perspective, and that will be multiplied tenfold when we get to Yellowstone. But I do miss those two so much… they will be back with us in future adventures!!! (But I did get a really good sleep last night :))
We are so grateful for another “trip of a lifetime”. Yes, I am losing count of how many times I have said that. We are just grateful, all day, every day. I have cried happy tears over that fact multiple times this week alone. And enjoying every moment!!!
