Seems like only yesterday

It was a strange feeling leaving Avon this morning. First off, it seemed like yesterday that we were coming back home after 40 days on the road. Felt like no time had passed. We had a lot of fun in the few weeks we had at home and saw a lot of friends. It was also different because this is our first trip in Livvy without the animals, leading to a much different experience already.

Our day started off with Karen taking Daisy to her vacation home for the week with Auntie Christine. While we will miss her a lot (in all fairness, I will not miss her at all but Karen will!), she is spoiled rotten by Christine and will have so much fun. Peeta is staying home where he can rule the roost, much like his everyday life. But he will not have anyone to boss around. His Auntie Jill and brother Michael will be visiting him while we’re gone.

The drive was, fortunately, short and uneventful. It was quite strange to not have the two animals with us. This became very apparent at our refuel stop, and we didn’t have to worry about Peeta escaping or Daisy needing walked. We could both just take our time, eat lunch, fuel up, and get back on the road. Easy peasy.

Our original itinerary had us leaving on June 15th and traveling 8+ hours the first day. Our prior travels have shown us that we do not like, nor do we need, to travel that far each day. So we left Avon a day early and made an overnight stop in Elkhart, Indiana. Why Elkhart? Mainly because it is the RV capital of the U.S., and our Livvy was built right here by Forest River. In fact, we drove past the production plant today on the way in.

We had a lovely dinner and are relaxing under the darkening skies as I write. There is a LOT more in store over the coming weeks, and many new places to see, so keep checking in during our journey. For those who do not know, we are working our way west-northwest toward Yellowstone National Park. We will be meeting up with our friends Erin and Wes (both VERY seasoned Yellowstone veterans) who are going to help us enjoy 8 days in the amazing park. Lots to see and do and we cannot wait!

In the meantime we will push westward, whiling our time by listening to Anna Kerenina on audiobook. After I punished Karen by listening to The Lord of the Rings on our last trip, we decided to try out the classics. So far, we are both really enjoying the book. And each other! And that’s what this is all about.

Getting onto the Ohio Turnpike and still happy!

Where Livvy was born.

Living the good life (actually, ALL of if is the good life).

Love cooking on the induction cooktop, a wonderful gift from Jennifer and Kim.

As your journey begins, mine does as well. Having Miss Daisy as a guest is always a pleasure. It’s so nice having her here, especially while working. She’s great company. She is loving life and so am I. Wishing you safe travels.
