There is no place like home!

We are safely back in Avon,Ohio. Over 6,600 miles in 40 days. When we left (the day after the eclipse), there were buds on the trees and a few of our new bulbs were starting to come up. Now everything is beautifully green! It is so nice to take the covers off of our patio furniture and enjoy a nice evening in our own backyard, listening to the birds chirping, and no other campers around!

We woke up early, excited to get on the road. We had a few extra chores in tank cleaning before we left since we are going to take a break for about 10 days before using it again? (after all, now the weather is perfect for local/regional travel, too)

Still, we were on the road by 8, fueled with a shower, healthy-ish breakfast and coffee. It was another uneventful drive. At one point we had thought about stopping in Elkhart IN where our RV (and many other brands) are made. We had also thought about a legit stop at Indiana Dunes National Park. But that will have to wait for another day, since we wanted to be home!

We were given some extra energy (aka sugar rush) from the rest of the Hurts Donuts. OMG they are amazing, thanks again, Kim and Tom for that tip. We have none left to share.

And a quick Lord of the Rings comment… it has been a challenge! We still have a few hours to go and I am committed to finishing asap. This is a frequent topic of conversation with Rick and his kids so I am glad to no longer be completely clueless (on this topic anyway)… but the extensive vocabulary of names and places all sound the same to me! As in all of my stories, I enjoy the people aspects and will want to hear the end, nonetheless. Plus, the reader’s accent and varying voices are lovely.

Back in Eastern time, we were home mid afternoon. Somehow the same lunch we otherwise would have had on the road was so much better heated in an oven, served on our normal dishes, seated at our kitchen table.

Then more work! We have since unloaded Livvy, put almost everything away, gave the Needy Bichon a much needed bath, and enjoyed our own spacious showers. Now we can relax before lots of cleaning of the RV and laundry tomorrow.

What an adventure, truly. We are overjoyed that it all went as we had hoped (and better). And now we can finally say it… without incident, breakdown, injury or delay. Wow. We know that is special.

We have appointments this week both at Camping World and Mercedes, but for truly minor things. We are excited to call this a success, rest up and be ready for our next adventure after Memorial Day!

Looking forward to catching up with many of you in the coming weeks!!

“Are you ready to go home?!” I think so!
Some extra chores and no water use on the way home … IYKYK! But we had coffee to enjoy while we got things cleaned up. (Lots of our purell was involved between steps)
Getting closer… and their roads were not pleasant. Of course neither was Chicagoland where at one point there were 12 lanes of traffic. Grateful we came through on the weekend!
The excitement just built from here!

Welcome Home! A mire 40 days on the road…you are almost truckers. Now, since you are bent on resting a few weeks and catching up on things, and have no use for your RV, and it is all clean and ready to go anyway. why not just “lend it out” to deserving relatives or friends for a quick 25 day trip? Ohhh, well no harm in asking! Welcome Home!
