We spent today driving from Laramie, Wyoming to Kearney, Nebraska. To say it was a boring stretch is an understatement. The only thing separating it from our travels across Kansas last month is that there is a bit of contour to the land. Not much, however.
The most interesting thing we saw was the sign announcing we had entered Nebraska – the 13th state in this trip. Therefore, that is the cover photo.
We did find a very nice rest area where we stretched our legs, and the legs of the Needy Bichon, and ate lunch outside at a picnic table. The temperatures had warmed as we had descended in altitude from the previous weeks. That certainly felt good.
As we sit here tonight we are just under 1,000 miles from home. About 14 hours of drive time separates us and our big shower and even bigger bed. We are starting to get excited about being settled in one place (for a very, very short 4 weeks until we depart again). However, we are splitting this remaining 1,000 over the next three days. No reason to overdo it on a daily basis!
This drive home has been interesting in that we’ve had time to deconstruct the trip and discuss all that we’ve learned. And trust me, we have learned a lot. I am sure we will continue this over the coming days (and weeks) and use what we’ve taken away for planning and managing future trips.
That’s about all I have for tonight. We are sitting inside the RV as I write because rain is supposed to start soon. Hopefully we’ll be able to get back outside a little before bed. Good night and we’ll talk tomorrow.
