A dangerous place

The picture on this post may look unassuming. It may look relaxing. It may look safe. But let me tell you, we are in dangerous territory for the next couple of days. Very, very dangerous.

We woke up this morning, again, to the crashing Pacific working against the stone shoreline. The temps were great, but the skies were again shrouded in clouds and fog. No matter, it was still a beautiful sight.

The campground had a small food counter (Peirano’s Beachfront Cafe) which had been closed since we arrived. However, it was set to open for breakfast this morning at 8am and we were excited to give it a try. For a small “shack” at the beach, the place served amazing breakfast burritos. Neither of us could finish! Great way to start the day.

We had a relatively short driving day, so we took our time heading north from Ventura. The 101 hugged the coastline for the first hour, granting wonderful views. The hills to our right were really coming into bloom with color. Once the road turned away from the coast it began to make its way into the hills.

We made a pit stop in Pismo Beach (cue Bugs Bunny) for a Walmart and grocery run. And since there just happened to be an In-n-Out Burger in the same parking lot, we were forced to eat lunch there again. They do not have much on the menu, but what they have they do right!

We checked into our home for the next three nights, the Paso Robles RV Resort. It is a lovely campground nestled onto a hill just above the valley. Our site is huge, and we have our own grass area as well. The Bichon approves.

Seems great, doesn’t it? So, why is this place so dangerous? Because Paso Robles is one of the biggest wine-making regions in California. If our 2021 trip to Napa taught us anything, it is that we cannot be trusted around good wine!! The danger is all around us, but we are willing to face it head-on and with glasses raised.

Too much burrito
In-n-Out, Pismo Beach. In today, out tomorrow.
Love on a plastic platter.
Just like the Yellowstone Ranch, but without the branding (or Rip).
Grass makes for a happy, yet needy, Bichon (she has an aversion to using gravel as a restroom).
