T-minus 10 days

It has been a while since we’ve written on that last day of our previous journey. While we haven’t been crisscrossing the country, we have been keeping busy. We have used this down time to have some work done on the RV (new windshield, flooring repair, oil change and tire rotation) as well as cleaning. I had surgery to repair a torn meniscus, which should be healed nicely and ready to hike! We also took time to digest what we learned from our first long trip and make changes for our future travels. Our biggest takeaway was that we do not want long travel days. Six to seven hours of driving at most is really our limit. This caused us to reevaluate our upcoming trip and make some changes to minimize long days.

We got to spend lots of time with my mother as well. We had a wonderful four days in Ellicottville, NY relaxing, shopping, and sightseeing. She came to visit us in Cleveland and got to hit some of our favorite spots (Dover Gardens, Old School, Avon Lake BDubs, 2 Bucks). We celebrated her 79th birthday with my sister and brother-in-law. And we had lots of time to just sit around and be together.

While we’ve had a great time at home, we are excited to start our next adventure!

We are in the process of getting lists together and staging our travel supplies. Tons of cooking will be happening this week as we prep meals for the road. De-winterizing and cleaning Livvy. Re-checking routing and campground reservations. Finalizing everything we think we may need for our 40-day trip.

Our travels start 10 days from now! On April 9th (one day after the total solar eclipse) we head west. Our travels will take us more than 6,000 miles through a dozen states, to 7 National Parks, to the Pacific Ocean, to Disneyland, and to 22 campgrounds. And through all of that we hope to be able to add to this site every day so you can follow along. See you again on April 9th!
