Things we have already learned…

We are safely south of Charlotte at our first “real” campground of this trip.?Let me tell you, we have been busy learning.

  1. We don’t like sleeping in rest areas. We knew it going in, but wow was that reinforced during our attempts to sleep (on the couch and recliner) last night. It is loud, we separately had near nightmares about trucks careening off the road into us, and/or filing damage reports before we even got to our first stop.
  2. Those truckers know what they are doing.?Dang, they pulled within inches of us seemingly all night and never made a scratch. Kudos to the men and women who bring us our stuff.
  3. And they know how to use the restroom facilities.?Ewww. Enough said.
  4. People – take it from us.?LEARN how to merge onto the highway!!!?Big trucks and little RVs just can’t get out of your way or slow down because you feel like getting on the highway. We have already had some harrowing experiences, and I’m sure more to come.
  5. Driving through the mountains of WV in the rain, fog, and near freezing temperatures absolutely sucks. We did that last night and again this morning.?Team sport.?No real snow or ice but enough to make us glad it wasn’t. And also glad we aren’t coming back that way.
  6. Little white bichon + mud = yuck.?Ready for the drier weather that is hopefully ahead.
  7. Curious cat + coming off of hemp calming treats = exploring every nook and cranny we are afraid we can never get him out of.?Trip to Lowe’s tomorrow to make things a little more cat-proof.
  8. On the positive side…
    • we get to relax this evening with all of the amenities of full hookups and space
    • we are eating great food and have just opened and even better bottle of fantastic wine
    • this is a beautiful part of the country (even with the fog and rain)
    • we trust each other and make a perfect team in all that we do
    • we are so very excited for what lies ahead
    • we are having the best time and are so grateful for these opportunities

Thanks all for reading, have loved seeing your comments and we are even implementing the map idea from Bill 🙂
