3,863 miles later…

We are home! We are grateful for our roomy kitchen and luxurious shower, and looking forward to our comfy bed tonight.

We travelled smart last night, being minimalist in our setup. It was in the mid-teens again and therefore using the campground bathrooms was not so fun, but we didn’t want to deal with the freezing cold to setup/takedown in the dark, either. We made the best of it with our awesome dinner and reflecting on how much we were enjoying our last night in the RV. And as planned, we got up early to be on the road home.

The visit to the liquor store, Party Source, was great fun for Rick as it was his first time there. He got a special scotch and a few other things. We will be back on future trips!!

The trip home involved lots of countdowns… until we finally made it here! Anyone who knows me (Karen) well, knows that I cry happy/meaningful tears long before sad ones. There have been many happy tears on this trip, including those when I saw the “Welcome to Avon” sign. The Needy Bichon and Cat are enjoying their freedoms as well as their favorite cuddle spots. I know everyone will get a great rest tonight.

Despite our comments that we have plenty of time and didn’t need to rush to get everything done when we got home… we got so much stuff done this afternoon! The RV is already completely unpacked and winterized. We still have cleaning and some other maintenance work to do tomorrow, as well as a huge mound of laundry, but the weighty things are already done.

Now we have the opportunity to reflect. We know we don’t want to travel in January. We experienced way too much ice on this trip – especially in Mississippi!!! The logistics is something we will need to review in some detail and continue to adjust. Getting it even better the next time will always be what we strive for! We know that we got a lot of it right, but we enjoy the planning for next time. We are calling our next couple of months “the break”… although we have plenty of fun planned in that time, too!

But tonight, we celebrate a safe journey, miles of laughter, incredible visits with friends/family, and are grateful for this blog to help us capture the moments. Thanks to all who have followed along, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Two rivers campground seemed lovely but we arrived in the dark and departed shortly after dawn. And with the deep freeze, we couldn’t have enjoyed much anyhow!
The legendary Party Source!
I was so excited when we were in Columbus and just a “normal” drive ahead of us!
These two were blissfully unaware that we were finally taking them home
Oh yeah… home sweet home!

Well welcome home! Sometimes you must just learn the lesson for yourself. Now you know why I camp only in nice weather. I welcome you both to the “OLD AGE CLUB” where we never do anything that is not at least comfortable.

And I can’t wait for the invite for the outdoor slideshow of the trip!
