Thanks for all of the birthday wishes. It was a great day. And today, another one!

We really don’t have a plan for what we wanted to do in this area, but knew that we were close to may things and would have lots of options. That may surprise you, but we really do plenty of the activity/hike planning in the day or two leading up to the location. Here, we’re just winging it more than normal since there are so many places to see. So after a leisurely morning of looking at Oregon wineries for an upcoming leg of our trip, we decided to go into town today. The weather is cool (high 60s), we could safely leave Daisy in the RV for a while, and there is a lot to do from there. It was a short drive of only 10 minutes to this lovely spot.

In about a mile, the road crossed into a more wooded area, with signs posted of possible bears in the area. We are getting used to this, and we had our appropriate gear with us. Rick got the bear spray out, and we both had our bear bells. I am absolutely obsessed with bell ringing in these moments; I could volunteer for the Salvation Army with my bell ringing skills. Unfortunately, it was also filled with mosquitos! I was already suffering from lots of bug bites (always do), but tomorrow is likely to be nasty for both of us. We lost count, but we looked like we had been in a battle with the blood splatters as we smashed those nasty little suckers!
As we were hiking, I thought of this earlier picture which inspired today’s title.

The path continued, thankfully out of the mosquito haven, into some lovely vistas and city park spaces. The variety was great, without a significant amount of incline. But we had to keep our wits about us.

As we sit here this evening, we look on the valley below us and know we covered plenty of that terrain on our hike today. It’s a great feeling!
What an end to our day these are amazing!!
