R&R

Even us retired folks enjoy some R&R. After all, quite a few people have said to us that we stay awfully busy in our retirement. If by busy they mean staying active and fully enjoying every day, they are quite right! Anyhow, we are 2 weeks into our trip and this is the first day we haven’t driven anywhere. That, my friends, is a treat in our book. Especially since this is a lovely campground!

We are now fully adjusted to RV living again. Everything is in its place (and frankly while we miss Peeta so very much, we have a lot more room for things since the upper bunk is now just storage, and not also a litter box). We are working through our thoughtfully packed supplies, always making a list of what we need at the next stop. We have a good routine for every phase of living and are learning how to not step on each other’s toes (literally) while doing it all in this very small space. Today has been a good day to reorganize, restock our little bathroom vanity, etc. There are extra supplies tucked in every nook and cranny here, as 45 days of travel is new to us, and it requires lots of stuff, from prescriptions to mouthwash to dog food…

At this place in particular, we have the luxury of a few additional things. First, we have spent almost every waking minute outside. We’ve been able to enjoy our awning being out to give us precious shade most days, and that is such a treat with perfect 70ish temps. We know that we are heading back to some cooler weather in the next couple of locations, so the extra time outside is something we are grateful for. This, plus the amazing hiking, has made for some excellent quality sleep this week!

Second, we had a breakfast date. Rick found a coffee shop at the ranch/cabins across the street, so we walked over there this morning. What a treat. Beautiful landscaping, incredible views, a sweet cat that we could visit, and wonderful breakfast. Our supplies are dwindling quick in this department, so we even got something for tomorrow am. Highly recommend Horsethief Coffee if you are ever in the area. I am already looking forward to sitting outside in the am with our second breakfast (you are welcome, Lord of the Rings fans… Rick will be so happy to see me using this reference in a post)

We also made this a laundry stop! While we are sufficient in clothing, there is nothing better than clean sheets and towels. So while we were at it, we are now fully stocked in the clothing department, too. You never know how nice, available or convenient the laundry rooms will be, so we took advantage of this now. Maybe only one more laundry stop will be needed, as we are planning to get back home one month from today. It’s been nice to get everything cleaned up and ready for our next leg of the trip.

Next, while we are talking about cleanliness, Daisy got a bath! This is my first time bathing her while on the road; I just felt that she needed it. And let me tell you, the dirt coming off that little white dog of mine was extensive! I’m still trying to figure out if/when/how to get her groomed while on the road, but the bath definitely helps. Unfortunately, we also figured out that our outdoor shower…. yep, you guessed it… has a leak. Nothing major and the indoor shower probably worked better for Daisy bathing, all things considered. And it gave Rick another opportunity to research yet another future DIY replacement project.

Also, we enjoyed the pool! It is not often that the stars align between weather, a beautiful pool and a rest day… but that happened today. It felt wonderful. We’ve had plenty of sunshine, so we didn’t stay long.

And so our R&R has been rather busy, I guess. But again, we are active and fully enjoying it. It also is going to be so nice when we do get back on the road tomorrow to know that we fully embraced our time here in the campground, as well as the area, and got everything out of it that we wanted to!

A nice view of our RV park from our walk to the coffee shop this am. This is definitely a place we can see ourselves coming back to
Pre-bath vibes… she needs it!
She is still getting daily visits with the horse, whom I have affectionately named Chestnut. He is a highlight of our day!
And Chestnut seems to like her, too!
Post bath…
Lovely pool time
And now ready to relax and enjoy the evening. We move our chairs all day long to stay in the shade! I know, it’s a rough life…
Saw this the other day at Arches Visitor Center, and it has really stuck with me/us. So excited for the next leg of our adventure with the other 3 big Utah parks up next! Our boots are calling for more hikes to explore this beautiful land
