After several months of short trips, lots of learning, even more spending, today is the start of our first BIG adventure. We didn’t plan this first day of travel to happen on Rick’s birthday, but here we are, sitting in a rest area in West Virginia. Our initial plans had us leaving tomorrow and driving nearly 9 hours and we decided that was just too much for our first outing.
Packing and loading took even longer than expected. but everything fit. Even all of the food we’ve been cooking over the past week. That preparation will make eating well just a bit easier as we continue to adjust to RV living. So far, the animals aren’t thrilled but they are doing fine. This trip will be an even bigger adjustment for them.
This adventure will be taking us south for 17 nights, including several national parks and an opportunity to visit friends and family. With the exception of tonight, every destination has been researched and reserved, so tonight is very out of character for us as we boondock between semis.
We will officially celebrate Rick’s birthday at a future date, but he is starting 54 with a memorable Livin’ Part!
