Our trip ended a few days early, due to our mechanical problems. But we made it home same to Avon late yesterday. After 4,228 miles and three National Parks, we were finally back at home.
What did we do with all this time? I was up for a doctor appointment at 6:30am. I’ve got some lingering problems with shingles in my right ear. Apparently this just takes a long time to go away. Karen got up and worked out. Then, we enjoyed coffee in our sunroom – one of our favorite things to do!
By 9:00am it was time to get started on Livvy. We had a LOT of work to do in cleaning the inside and outside. Things inside just get dirty living in that small space, and there is no shortage of dirt and BUGS on the outside. Both of us worked hard, in increasingly hotter temps, to get the cleaning done.
Once we did, we headed out to get some fresh veggies from Pickering Hill Farms and groceries from Heinen’s. After that was done, we were able to sit back with a cocktail and relax. What a day!
Reflecting on our last 19 days was fun. We realize just how much better we were getting with Livvy, setting up and tearing down. We realize just how much we love being away from people. And we realize how much we love our home as well. Like the movie, this is a Wonderful Life. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
We are on a short break for now, but will be traveling again on the 14th. We are going with my Mother to Cape May, New Jersey. Cape May, and especially Wildwood, is a place I went on vacation every year of my life until I was 14. I haven’t been back to the area in 40 years. My mother and father went there nearly every year after that. Karen and I are looking forward to her stories, as well as my memories of childhood. Keep reading!
