A beautiful day on the lake

I’ve said before that I love the water. So renting a boat today was a special treat! It’s not really season here yet, so the marina is still in setup mode. In fact, they only had a few boats even in the water and we saw them bringing more out of storage. That, and the fact that it was a Thursday afternoon meant that we nearly had the lake to ourselves. We saw a couple of folks fishing and passed a few brave kayakers, but that was it. We simply enjoyed the time on the water, best told in the pictures below.

The walk to the marina is hilly and about a mile and a half each way. Daisy (yes, the Needy Bichon) has now made that trip with us twice. Needless to say she is tired and hungry! Plus it is a good little half mile trek to the dumpsters so she is (we are) getting our exercise just being here. Everyone is sleeping well, too, with all of the fresh air.

The campground certainly started to fill up, and we anticipate even moreso tomorrow. I much prefer the quiet of mid-week camping. We spoke with the camp host briefly yesterday who certainly felt the same and said that it is a pretty wild place on the weekends. Reinforces for me that I wouldn’t want to be a camp host. But I’m hoping that early in the season will keep the crazies at bay, at least one more day.

One more day of wide open spaces nearly to ourselves
Morning coffee outside is the best!! Somehow the mid-50s can feel warm when you’re in the sunshine. Soaking it up while we can, as it will get colder for us soon.
We made it out onto the water! We had bought a couple of fun beverages at the liquor store yesterday. Rick had this crazy beer with Clemato in it. He said a former client used to talk about it, and he liked it. I think it was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted.
Our pontoon boat didn’t go very fast, but it got us out to explore
Another clear, gorgeous day…
No surprise, I enjoyed lounging in the sun while Rick did all of the captaining. And Daisy (NB) sat right next to me.
I love being on a boat! I don’t want to own one ever again, just enjoy the experience
The definitely highlight for me was the snow melt running down out of the mountains into the lake. We picked a great season to visit in order to experience this. In fact the campground was covered in snow just a few weeks ago
Yes, she’s cute… but this pic does a great job of showing the snow capped mountains just beyond the lake where the runoff is coming from.
More snow…
Despite the runoff, water levels are really low. So they told us we could just beach the boat anywhere to go exploring. We chose to just stay in the lake, enjoy our picnic lunch out there and not try to test our boating skills anymore than we had to.
Our campsite is just on the other side of those trees
My handsome captain
A good time was had by all!
Lots more people around by the time we got back 🙁

That’s funny, that no matter where you are, a campground is always more peaceful and enjoyable during mid week. I will repeat, your scenery is always do beautiful in your pics that I’m not sure I would want to return. Thanks for sharing
